Torture

About

We believe embodied flesh & blood experience is essential, important work is hard work, and our craft is best delivered raw with purpose, clarity, and pride.

Machines make most things now. What they cannot do gains value: choosing to do something hard, art made from processing difficulty, and craft that shows its work. Torture sits where the three meet.

Doctrine

  1. Domestic. Designed, grown, and crafted in America. Why: the people who make it are part of our community. Farm, mill, cut-and-sew shop, athlete: a set of knowable relationships, and a shared belief that an idea is what makes us Americans.
  2. Fiber. Raw, undyed natural fiber. Why: a garment should be something we love that sits in harmony with the world we live in. The fabric celebrates its composition, takes abrasion without pilling, and softens with wear. Nothing sits between the athlete and the fiber.
  3. Construction. Serger four-thread overlock seam. Oxblood accent stitching. Why: reinforcement at the stress points, left visible. Purpose in every choice.

Nothing without purpose.
